Anime & Manga
This is a big one. I've been into anime and manga for years and I'm not even slightly embarrassed about it. If you want to talk about arcs, theories, character development, or just binge something together — I'm in.
Who I am
If you've spent any time around autistic people, you know that special interests aren't just hobbies — they're a core part of who we are. Here's mine. Because support works best when there's a genuine connection, and genuine connection starts with actually knowing someone.
Why this matters
One of the hardest parts of finding the right support worker is the social side — showing up and trying to connect with someone you've never met, doing things you might feel anxious or self-conscious about. Shared interests can make that so much easier.
If you're into the same things I am, brilliant — let's do support around that. If your interests are completely different to mine, that's equally fine. I genuinely love learning about what other people are passionate about, and I'll always meet you where you are.
And if you're someone who wants a support worker who'll happily watch One Piece, go fishing, kick a ball around, or deep-dive into sneaker culture with you — you might have just found your person.
"Your interests aren't a distraction from support — they're the best starting point for it."
The full list
Some of these are full-blown special interests. Others are things I just genuinely enjoy. All of them are fair game to talk about, or do together.
This is a big one. I've been into anime and manga for years and I'm not even slightly embarrassed about it. If you want to talk about arcs, theories, character development, or just binge something together — I'm in.
Don't ask me my favourite arc because we will be here for hours. One Piece is one of the greatest stories ever told and that's not up for debate. I could genuinely talk about this forever — the lore, the characters, the themes of found family and freedom.
Day one. Gotta catch 'em all has basically been a life philosophy. Whether it's the games, the cards, the anime, or hunting down rare merchandise — I'm there.
Board in the boot, always. I love skating — the freedom of it, the creativity, the community. Whether you skate too, want to try it, or just want to hang at a skatepark, I'm completely up for it.
Yes, those are all mine. Sneaker culture is a whole world — the history, the design, the hunt for the right pair. I genuinely enjoy talking about sneakers with people who love them, and also with people who have absolutely no idea why anyone would own this many shoes.
JackJumpers fan through and through — local sport is something I really value. I also play and enjoy watching at all levels. Whether it's NBL, NBA, or a casual game at the local courts, basketball is always worth doing.
Grew up playing and never really stopped loving it. I'm just as happy kicking a ball around as I am watching a match. Good for community access, good for just burning some energy, good for a laugh.
Another one for the team sports list. Softball is a great social sport and something I genuinely enjoy — whether it's organised competition or a casual game. Good vibes all round.
I have two French Bulldogs — Boo and a second equally perfect companion — and I am a dog person through and through. If you have a dog, I am already your friend. If you want support that involves going to dog-friendly places, hanging with dogs, or just talking about dogs — I am extremely available for this.
Tasmania is one of the most beautiful places on earth for this — and getting outside, moving through it, and switching off from the noise of daily life is genuinely restorative. From a gentle trail to a solid day walk, I'm keen.
Fishing is one of those things that's as much about the vibe as the catch. Being near water, slowing down, the patience of it — it's a genuinely great activity for people who need a low-sensory, low-demand way to just exist outside for a bit.
Cars are a genuine interest — the culture around them, modifications, specific models, the mechanical side of things. Always up for a conversation about what someone drives or wants to drive, and definitely up for a cruise or a car meet if that's your thing.
Great for the body and genuinely good for the mind. I enjoy swimming — whether that's laps at the pool or just being in the water. Low-key, low-impact, and good for sensory regulation too.
Food has been a big part of my life — I owned and ran a café and catering business, so cooking is something I genuinely love and take seriously. I enjoy everything from everyday meals to more involved recipes. It's also a brilliant support activity: practical, creative, and something you can build real skills around. Happy to cook together, meal plan, or just geek out about food.
Physical health and mental health are connected — and the gym is something I take seriously and genuinely enjoy. Whether you're already into it or trying to build a routine, I can be a really solid workout companion or body double for those sessions that feel too hard to get to alone.
Big gamer. Have been for as long as I can remember. Lots of different genres, lots of different platforms — the collection has been building for years. Gaming is a genuinely valid and enjoyable thing to do during support, whether that's co-op, watching someone play, or just geeking out about a specific game.
Music is always on. Across a lot of genres — I'm not too precious about what I listen to. If you're someone who wants support to get to a gig, a concert, or a festival, I'm genuinely excited about that. Live music is one of life's genuinely good things.
Across non-fiction, psychology, pop science, and obviously manga. I read a lot — partly because I find it genuinely enjoyable, and partly because studying Psychological Science means there's always something to be reading. Library trips are 100% a valid community access activity.
There's something deeply satisfying about finding the right moment and capturing it. I love photography — the way it forces you to slow down and actually look at the world around you. Street photography, nature, candid moments — anything that tells a story. Bonus: it's a great community access activity too.
Few things are more satisfying than working through a complex Lego set — the focus, the process, the finished result. It's also genuinely great for regulation, fine motor skills, and just having something to do with your hands while you chat. Happy to build together anytime.
This list is about me — but your interests are the real starting point. I work best when support is built around the things that actually matter to you. Whether we share interests or not, I'm genuinely curious about what you're into. No judgement — just real curiosity to learn and ultimately better understand the people I work with. Tell me what lights you up, and we'll build from there.
The professional side
My background isn't just a list of jobs — it's 20+ years of working closely with people across some genuinely varied environments. Here's what I've worked in and brought to this business.
Years working directly with people in fast-paced, high-demand environments. I know how to read a room, adapt quickly, stay calm under pressure, and make people feel genuinely welcome — not just processed.
Direct 1:1 and group support work across disability and youth sectors, including extensive experience supporting teens and young adults. Understanding what good support looks like in practice — and what it doesn't. I have experience navigating school transitions, early independence, social challenges, and the particular pressures young neurodivergent people face. This isn't theoretical for me.
Coaching and managing teams, running supervision, holding people accountable with compassion. I know how to help people grow, and how to have the hard conversations when something isn't working.
Experience working within advocacy and anti-discrimination contexts. I understand rights, systems, and how to support someone to navigate them without it becoming an overwhelming or re-traumatising process.
Autistic adult. Navigated mental health challenges and eating disorder recovery. Live with anaphylaxis and a range of allergies — so I understand the practical planning and awareness that goes into everyday activities. Know what it's like to need support and struggle to find the right kind. That shapes everything about how I show up for the people I work with.
Currently completing a Bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Tasmania. Because 20+ years of experience deserves the theoretical grounding to back it up — and I genuinely love learning.
Whether you share my interests or not, reach out and let's have a chat. The only way to know if this is the right support for you is to find out — and there's zero pressure in that conversation.
